Nice start at the first day of the 2009 Soling European Championship, although under heavy rain in the morning and the usual delays expected for the measurement timetable, everything got in route and 12 boats got measured this first day ? La prima giornata.
During the afternoon, the Solings kept arriving in the narrow roads of Lovere. Solings parking lot also a concert auditorium filled with music the whole night, surrounded by Restaurants, bar and Karaoke places converted the exhausting trip into a pleasant evening.
Second measurement day is underway and the normal Italian way shows his face with `petit` breakfast in the morning not only to the staff working but to all competitors who were surprised not only with the nice brioches (kind of sweet croissant) but also with the beautiful ladies in shorts and small shirts (Maria, Melania, Stephanie) distributing them.
Measurement problems were solved with the help of Class chief measurer Jean Pierre Marmier who was available for a morning chat with the event organizers.
The sun now hits hard and soon competitors will see the normal shut down in activities, closing for a pasta lunch (penne and tomatoes sauce) as normally they do here at the AVAS.
The event sponsored by Terme di Boario, Reale Mutua, Comisa, Elvstrom Sails, Ferghettina, Firat, Taccolini Distribuzione, Gelatissimo, Porto Nuovo Viaggi, Slopy Joe, Araberara, Porto Turistico Lovere will host a press conference for the Italian broadcasting TVs and news paper this Sunday at 1200 and later on at 1900 the opening ceremony is scheduled with all competitors, companions, friends and sailing interested people at the AVAS.
